Kent Pederson is an associate in Orr Cook’s Labor & Employment group. Kent represents clients in a broad range of employment law matters in federal and state courts in Florida and across the country. Kent also represents clients on non-compete and trade secret disputes as well as claims raised in partnership and shareholder disputes. Kent also represents employers in administrative claims against the Department of Labor, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Labor Relations Board, and Florida Commission on Human Relations.

In addition to employment related matters, Kent’s experience includes litigating complex contract disputes, construction litigation, professional negligence, premises liability, and insurance issues.

Kent attended Liberty University School of Law in Virginia. He was a member of the Law Review Journal, competed successfully for Liberty’s Moot Court Board and Negotiations team in multiple tournaments, and was Vice-President of the Student Bar Association. He received the CALI® Book Award for Mergers & Acquisitions law and achieved a certificate of concentration in Property law.

Prior to coming to the U.S. for law school, Kent received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science (Honours) with a Minor in Law from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

In his spare time, Kent has published numerous peer-reviewed law journal articles, on topics from international counterfeiting and trademark infringement, constitutional free speech issues in federal trademark law, conflicting fiduciary breach doctrines in M&A law, and AI harvesting of copyrighted computer code.

Kent is a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association and the Chester Bedell Inn of Court. When not at work, Kent is either watching hockey, writing, fishing, building something with his Dad, working on his hand-built cabin with his Mom, or walking his dog with his wife, Rachel.
